An all-new book about the history of Granton, WI

Following on the footsteps of Granton - A Stop on the Stage Route, this new book, debuting autumn 2020, adds to that  chronological narrative by delivering a smorgasbord of visual history.

Over the course of 610 photographs, each with its own caption, the reader will explore Granton from its early days, beginning with photos dating around 1900, through changes in the mid- and late-20th century as well as the people and businesses of today.

Many photos are large format, either one or two per page, in order to show fine details.  Others are grouped to show the changes that have occurred in a particular profession, such as banking, barbering or the hardware business.

One chapter is dedicated to street views, with photos of the same street taken in various years placed side by side for easy comparison.

Ranging from those taken by professional photographers to those snapped by a family shutterbug, the photos contained in this volume each reveal something of what life was like in Granton at a particular time, and have been gathered together from across the United States.  Many are being seen and published for the very first time.

This new soft-cover volume is spiral bound so as to lay flat and contains 244 pages.  Covering both distant and recent history, the book makes a wonderful addition to a local history or Wisconsin history collection.
