On this location once stood Granton's grand opera house.  After being razed in the late 1970's, a new structure, the Southern Clark County Sportsman's Club, was constructed on the original foundation.  In 2012, the venue was sold and became the Granton Community Center.  The new owners wanted a quilt that symbolized "community" and chose one with a strong tree as its focal point.
